Collins Dictionary defines the phrase “living on the edge” as “taking a risk above and beyond what most people do.” In fact, “living on the edge” and being a risk taker is a characteristic that is praised and is even identified as a leadership trait.
A recent family trip to Tennessee and traveling along some narrow roads reminded me that getting too close to the edge will leave you in a state of anxiety. Some individuals suffer from anxiety when they don’t feel safe or when they feel insecure. Because there were no guardrails on the road, and all I could see was the edge, I started to feel anxious. I told my husband, we will have to find an alternate route, because I’m not going that way again.
For Christians, “living on the edge” also means saying that I’m all in for Christ but still hanging on to past friendships, relationships, and lifestyle choices that aren’t aligned with the direction that God has for your life. We have to make up our mind, that we will not go that way again. Read the Bible and allow the Word of God to direct your path. As He guides you on the right path, you will always have the guardrails of the Holy Spirit to protect you from falling.
Psalm 16:11 states, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” So, in 2022 allow God to direct your path! On His path, He will never leave you nor forsake you. He will keep you safe from harm and will keep you from falling. His pathway is blessed, and He will give you joy everlasting!
God bless you & Happy New Year!
