Time to Change Your Address
– Exodus 14:13-15 (NIV)
As a PK (“preacher’s kid”) and growing up in church, there were certain sayings I heard people say a lot, such as “stand still and allow the Lord to fight your battle.” But, then when you read the whole scripture, you can gain a deeper understanding. For example, in Exodus, when the Israelites were leaving Egypt and Pharoah’s army started to pursue them until they were sandwiched between the army and the sea in front of them, they became afraid. The Israelites even cried out that it would have been better for them to have stayed or move back to Egypt to endure the oppression and abuse of their slave-masters. Moses told them to stand still because the Lord will fight for you and you will see your deliverance. Moses’ instruction was simply to stand around and watch the play-by-play of how the Lord was going to destroy the Egyptian army. BUT, the LORD spoke and gave different instructions. He instructed Moses to tell the Israelites to MOVE ON.
Sometimes, you may find yourself in situations that are emotionally draining and/or physically or mentally abusive. Or, you may just be dealing with something from your past, internal doubts, or temptation that you just can’t seem to break away from. You don’t have to stand still and continue to deal with the situation or circumstance. You don’t have to drown in fear because you are standing there watching what may come next or because you feel like there is no where else to go.
If you are in a situation that is causing you grief, despair, heartache, depression, and/or threatens your well-being, CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS, MOVE ON, BELIEVE and TRUST GOD, and allow God to work it out!
I LOVE this! A change in address is a perfect way to express this! Thank you!
