Where He Leads Me, I Will Follow

“1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

– Psalm 23 (KJV)

There have been several times – well, actually more than several times – when I decided to go in my own direction only to realize that I’m lost without the guidance of Jesus Christ.  But, I am so thankful for that gentle nudge that He gives me, every now and then, to get back on course.

The beautiful essence of Psalm 23 is that despite the circumstances of his journey, David knew that God was always there with him!  In life, we will have times of prosperity and calmness like green pastures and still waters – and God is right there!  We will also be faced with times of grief and despair when we are going through a valley – and God is right there to comfort us!  At times, we will have to endure those enemies who use us or talk bad about us – and God is right there to elevate us above it all!

Like sheep, we have to learn to be meek and humble and obedient.  Jesus Christ will never lead us into a situation without a plan for us to overcome and be victorious.  Stay in His presence and trust Him to lead you through the journey each and every day!

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: A shepherd works around the clock to ensure the sheep are safe.  He leads them to areas where they can graze freely.  He keeps a watchful eye out for poisonous plants as well as for predators that may attack his sheep.  Jesus Christ, the Master Shepherd, is omnipresent to ensure that we are all safe.  If we allow Him to lead us, He will always make sure that we stay safe and that our lives are filled with goodness and mercy.

I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever
