Cloudy With A Chance of Hope

One of the most beautiful promises that God gave to mankind was the rainbow.  After the rain passes and the dreary clouds break away, a rainbow suddenly appears.  It is absolutely breathtaking!

Scientists explain it as a natural phenomenon.  Scientifically, a rainbow is created when light from the sun is reflected or dispersed through water droplets or rain.

It reminds me of life – many times we go through seasons of darkness, storms, cloudiness in our life. But the Son is always there and even though the clouds may still be there and the rain is just starting to end, His light in our situation reminds us of His promise.  To God’s Chosen Ones, He promises that, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5).  Many times in my life, that scripture has been my rainbow.

So, I want to encourage you – despite what you are going through, there is still HOPE.  The outlook may seem dim, but there is still HOPE.  The prognosis may be slim, but there is still HOPE.  That HOPE is in JESUS CHRIST!

Throughout the Word of God, He gives us examples of hope.  Job lost EVERYTHING except his life, yet, he stated, “though he slay me, yet will I trust in him” (Job 13:15).  The storm in Job’s life passed away and God granted him favor and blessings – more than what Job had previously.

Even Joseph – placed in a pit by the hands of his own brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned. Yet, he held onto HOPE and became a great leader in Egypt. With a forgiving heart, he told his brothers, “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” (Genesis 50:20)

Queen Esther, even though her people were condemned to die, she had hope that God would save her people. To her husband, the King, she stated, “Here is what I want. Here is my appeal to you. I hope you will show me your favor. I hope you will be pleased to give me what I want. And I hope you will be pleased to listen to my appeal” (Esther 5:7). God showed her favor and Haman, who wanted to kill the Jewish people, ended up being hung by the gallows he prepared for the Jews (Esther 9:25).

Apostle Paul was beaten, stoned, shipwrecked, imprisoned but he still had hope and continued to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 11:24-27).  Despite the adversity that he endured, Paul remained hopeful – “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13).

These are just a few examples of HOPE in the Bible – great witnesses to the promise that Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us. So, be encouraged and don’t let the storm, rain and clouds in your life allow you to lose HOPE.  Trust in Jesus Christ that this too shall pass and your rainbow will appear!

  1. It’s so beautiful to read those reminders of hope throughout the Bible! It completely astonishes me at the faith very “normal” people had, and God blessed them immensely because of it! With hope, and faith, anything is possible.❤️
