BREAKING FREE

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” – John 8:36

Today we celebrate freedom but ask yourself – Am I truly free?  Too many people are walking around in spiritual and emotional bondage.  They may shout on Sundays, dress the part, and even smile through it – but deep down they are harboring feelings that are keeping them from stepping into their purpose.

I, myself, have been there.  For years, I struggled with low self-esteem and self-doubt.  I didn’t feel that I deserved to be loved and I didn’t love myself.  Because of my low self-esteem and self-doubt, I didn’t think I was worthy of all the great things that God had in store for me.  I had to come to the realization that I couldn’t achieve goals and move forward in life until I broke free from those chains.

A lot of times, we cause the blessings of God to be delayed because we aren’t where we need to be to appreciate them.  How can we enjoy what God has for us, when we are bound by chains of fear, depression, jealousy, hate, low self-esteem, etc.?

Sometimes, we just have to be BOLD, take a step of FAITH and DECLARE that we are breaking free from those chains.  So, I invite you to pray and speak deliverance over your life with these scriptures:

Jesus Christ, please forgive me for holding on to things that are not aligned with the purpose that you have for me.  I am surrendering my life completely to you so that I can be used by you for Your glory.  Please help me to release these things and not allow them to consume my life any longer.

Lord, I am breaking free from the chain of FEAR:

“For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, ‘Abba, Father’.” – Romans 8:15

Lord, I am breaking free from the chain of LOW SELF-ESTEEM:

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” – Psalm 139:14

Lord, I am breaking free from the chain of SELF-DOUBT:

“I can do ALL things through Him who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13

Lord, I am breaking free from the chain of DEPRESSION:

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all” – Psalm 34:18, 19

Lord, I am breaking free from the chain of UNFORGIVENESS:

“Instead, be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.” _ Ephesians 4:32

Lord, I am breaking free from the chain of JEALOUSY:

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” – Galatians 5:13-14

Lord, I am breaking free from the chain of DECEPTION:

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32

Lord, I am breaking free from the chain of GIVING INTO TEMPTATION:

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13

Lord, now, I praise you and thank you for the FREEDOM I have found in YOU.  I ask that you now bind me with the Fruits of the Spirit – LOVE, JOY, PEACE, FORBEARANCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS & SELF-CONTROL.

In Jesus Name, AMEN!

  1. I love that you gave verses for each problem! God truly does set the captives free! God has set me free from depression, anxiety, fear, and He is continually setting me free from my sins. Lately God has been convicting me and cleansing me of my pride, selfishness, and conceit. But of course, this is a life long process! He is faithful to forgive our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness! Blessings!
